Vrana leads Wahoo @ Seward with back-to-back 54's Seward Invitational – 8.28.15 The Wahoo Girls Golf team finished off their busy first week of competition at the Seward Invitational on Friday. Leading the way for the Warriors was Alexis Vrana. Vrana carded back-to-back 54’s to shoot a 108. Behind Vrana were Emily Colgan and Hannah Polacek. Colgan shot a 117 and Polacek a 118. Also playing for the Warriors were Maddie Rappl (125) and Hannah Brust (144). Rappl had her first competitive round in the 50’s on the back. As a team the girls shot a 468, which was good for 11th place out of 13 teams. “Alexis had a good day today shooting back-to-back 54’s. Emily, Hannah, and Maddie also had nine’s in the 50’s. The girls really need to continue to improve their consistency. If they can do that, really good things will happen for the team,” said Coach Curtis Carlson. Fremont JV Dual – 8.31.15 After taking the weekend off, the Warriors were back in action Monday, taking on Fremont in a JV dual. The dual was played at Hilltop Country Club in Wahoo. Leading the way for Wahoo was Payton Carstens. Carstens, who is in her first year of playing golf, carded a 66 on the challenging course. Right behind Carstens were Hannah Brust and Maddie Rappl. Both girls shot 70’s. Rounding out the scoring for the team was Anna Dobesh (76) and Shelby Griego (77). Fremont won the dual by a score of 251 to 282. “All the girls who played for us today are in their first year of golf,” said Coach Curtis Carlson. “There were some really good shots hit for girls in that situation. There were also some things we have to get better at that will come with playing more. Payton hit some really good shots after a slow start.” The girls are back in action on Thursday at the Elmwood Murdock Quad, played at Grandpa’s Woods Golf Course.
