The Montgomery County elementary cross country teams captured a pair of first places last week at Winchester in the annual Run for the Water Barrel competition. Logan Stafford took medalist honors with a time of 6:16 over the 1,600 meter course and teammate Logan Stigall was second in 6:42. Fourth-grader Spencer Coffman finished third in 7:00 and Drew Doyle was fourth in 7:27. Also running for Montgomery County was Ty Greer, a third-grader, who was fifth in 7:28 and Jon Andrew Ledford finished sixth in 7:31. Bobby Doyle, eighth in 8:03 and Jacob Looney, 10th in 8:09 complete the Montgomery County lineup. Among the girls, Lauren Patrick was third overall to lead the Lady Indians. She had a time of 7:07. Annie Ledford was fourth in 7:32 followed by Taylor Patrick (fifth in 7:49) and Kacie Allen (17th in 9:53). The elementary races included teams from Montgomery County, Clark County, Powell County, Bath County and St. Agatha. In the middle school races, Nathan Turner was second overall for the boys with a personal best time of 10:10 while Josh Taylor was fifth with a time of 10:45. Rounding out the scoring were Isaac Dyer (10th in 12:22) and Jordan Hachenski (11th in 12:23). Paige Blevins was eighth in the girls’ middle school race with a personal best of 13:40. The Montgomery County varsity girls were without two of their top runners because of injuries. Jewelee Holbrook finished third overall in 22:31 with Lacey Johnson 11th in 24:10. Rounding out the list were Chyann Sargent (16th in 25:18), Katie Johnson (18th in 26:04) and Cameron Eads (28th in 28:13). Senior Connor Jackson led the boys in 20th place with a 19:18 time. He was followed by Ryan Thomas (25th in 19:41), Austin Terrell (41st in 20:39, Sean Greer (44th in 20:56), Casey McGuire (47th in 21:23), Jeremiah Taylor (62nd in 21:39) and Will Patrick (62nd in 23:38).
