CARDS ADVANCE TO 7-0

A beautiful, but cool, Sunday afternoon served as the backdrop for an inter-sectional lacrosse matchup as one of Illinois premier high school teams visited Fannon Field. The 18-5 win belied a closely played game where defense told the tale. Hinsdale jumped to an early 3-1 advantage before the Cardinals rallied to take the lead behind seniors Charlotte Sofield (4 goals, 1asst) and Kelly Larkin (4 goals, 2 asst). Ireton would head to intermission with a 9-3 margin and duplicated that with a 9-2 advantage in the second half. Once again, Kayla Duperrouzel dominated the draws for Bishop Ireton, a day after a 21-3 advantage over Notre Dame Academy, with a 16-9 margin in the Sunday contest. But it was the defense that quietly dominated the game. The Red Devils managed only 9 shots in the game, sophomore goalie Amelia Cole making 4 saves for the day. The defense caused 6 turnovers and scooped up 18 groundballs to 11 for the visitors. Anna Santulli led the Red Devils with three goals and an assist while goalkeeper Kelly Mullin recorded 9 saves for the afternoon before a crowd of 138 at Fannon Field for the Sunday matinee. Holy Cross visits Fannon Field in WCAC action before the Cardinals head south on Easter break.
