GIRLS LOSE TO CLARK; THEY'LL MEET AGAIN

The Montgomery County girls' soccer team lost to Clark County and Sayre and tied Boyd County this past week. Coach Diana Cline's squad lost to district rival Clark County, 3-0, before falling to Lexington Sayre, 4-1, and then the Lady Indian tied Boyd County in a home match Monday night, 2-2. Clark County, which sports a 12-3 overall record and has allowed just 11 goals in their previous 15 matches, finished second in the district behind Bourbon County with Montgomery County third and Paris fourth. That means that Bourbon County will take on Paris in the opening round of district action with the Lady Indians and Lady Cards battling for the right to reach the regional tournament. In the matchup with Boyd County the Lady Indians did get on the board as freshman Joy Pidgorodestka scored on an assist from Andrew Tyra. In the matchup with Lexington Sayre, Montgomery County got goals from Pidgorodestka and Summer Taylor with Madison Cline and Carly Walker recording assists. All of those players for the Lady Indians are either sophomores or freshmen. "Our junior varsity squad is really playing well and the future is bright for us," Cline said. "But we're still excited about what we can accomplish this season with a solid group of seniors."
