NEW LONDON COMPLETES PERFECT REGULAR SEASON
Killingly —New London High School completed its fourth undefeated regular season under coach Craig Parker, beating Killingly 64-48 on Tuesday in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Medium Division boys' basketball game.
The Whalers improved to 19-0 overall and finished 10-0 in the division. They last finished undefeated in 2010-11 on the way to winning the CIAC Class L state title.
Parker, in his 21st year as coach, was optimistic about his team's chance to run the regular-season table prior to the start of the season.
"To be honest with you, I looked at the schedule and thought it was a possibility because I thought we were a pretty good team," Parker said. "I didn't really expect it to happen. ... I thought we had a shot.
"We limped across the finish line. It wasn't a sprint."
Collin Sawyer led the Whalers with 23 points while Tyrel Martinez (12), Seth Lake (11) and Major Roman (10) also scored in double figures.
