State Farm Player of the Week: Week 3 - Jorge Alba, a junior safety for the Red Dogs, was selected as the State Farm Player of the Week for his performance against the Bixby Spartans in week 3 of the 2014 season. Alba switched to safety during spring practice and made a strong push for the starting job throughout the summer. Safeties coach Jacob Gill has been pleased with Alba’s quick transition. “Making a position change can be tough sometimes but Alba has handled it well. He’s a good, physical tackler and has good coverage skills. He’s committed himself to getting better and his growth is showing up on Friday nights.” So far Alba has accounted for 12 solo tackles, 9 assisted tackles, 1 forced fumble and 1 fumble recovered. The Bulldogs will open 7A West conference play this Friday night as they host the Rogers Heritage War Eagles for a 7:30 kickoff.
