LADY CANES READY TO MAKE HISTORY

The West Harrison Lady Canes are one win away from reaching the top of the mountain in the Class 5A Girls State basketball ranks. The Lady Canes are polished off Hattiesburg Tuesday in Jackson in the state semifinals. With that win, coach Otis Gates and West Harrison punched its first-ever ticket to a state championship game. Ameshya Williams has been the key player for the 25 and 2 Lady Canes. Gates says other West Harrison players have made major contributions in propelling the Lady Canes under the win column. "We've had a couple of seniors who have hit some big shots for us, "stated Gates. "Vin'Sha Hatcher and Gerriana Williams have done well shooting the ball when everything collapses on Ameshya and also Amari Graves has done a great job of defending. She usually defends the best player that we're playing against and she does a great job of doing that. She's also knocked down some shots at crucial times." Tyler Bouldin will be in Jackson for the West Harrison-Holmes County Central state championship game.
