WPS - SPORTSMANSHIP GUIDELINES

Wahoo Public Schools offers students an opportunity to become positively involved in school-sponsored activities. Our philosophy promotes good sportsmanship and good character, facilitates an atmosphere of respect to everyone, and allows all participants to develop an appreciation of the activity. For these reasons, parents, families, and friends are urged to assist with our efforts to provide positive learning experiences for all students who participate in or attend activities. The following behaviors are expected for ALL INDIVIDUALS who attend or participate in school-sponsored activities: • Respect yourself and others (Referees, officials, and coaches included!) • Respect your team and your opponents. Positive comments are always the best! • Respect the rules of the game. Don’t question the calls of the officials. • Accept the judgment calls of the coaches and an official of the game. One of the best lessons is learning how to work through adversity! Any demonstration of unsportsmanlike conduct or disruptive, unruly behavior on the part of an athlete, student, parent or spectator may result in ejection from the contest and future events. This is NOT a desired action. It is the EXPECTATION that everyone will uphold the highest standards of behavior and keep the perspective that it is simply a contest or game. Your commitment to this effort is appreciated. Sincerely, Marc Kaminski Director of Athletics (402) 443-4332 ext. 3217 kaminski@esu2.org “Sports do not build character. THEY REVEAL IT!” -H. L.
